Facebook Tips for Businesses

Useful Facebook Tips - Part 2

Now, let's move to Facebook for business

If there's one idea that you should understand and apply as good as you can to any strategy used to promote your company or products; it's that people hate advertising on Facebook. What you need to do is create engagement and topics for discussion but never use the network for classic advertising or marketing.

Here is a list of ideas to help you craft a balanced Facebook strategy, to convert leads and to get people interested in you and your products.

- What is engagement and how do I actually make it happen? To get people to talk about you or share your information and like you, you need to create value other than your product. Burger King for instance has a campaign that promised every Facebook participant a free product if they un-friended 10 of their Facebook contacts. It's lateral thinking really, get people to act, to talk about you and to get things done through action. Facebook discontinued the promotion for fear that it may alienate the community, but the campaign was a success. So, start a campaign that can be acted upon, you have the tools to create games, to create content that simply is irresistible to the individual. Once they are hooked, they will simply share you across with their friends, and do the hard part of the work for you.

- Constant updates. Be there for the community at all times, evaluate the success of your campaign and make changes on the fly, respond fast and always include new content that is relevant for those already liking what you do. Respond to queries, don't just set it and forget it, participate actively and come down to a personal level as much as you can.

-Don't ever promise anything you can't achieve. Generally, the negative is much more quickly shared and it has a more prominent response from a close network. As you can see, if you create a negative image about yourself, you will simply have no way to escape it, so tread carefully.

- Overall, you should always try to stay on top of the game; see what others do, what catches on and what doesn't. The information circulates faster than ever and the ones to make the most out of it are the ones that win in the end. Be open-minded, be creative and you will reach your goal.
